Two questions about Cyanobacteria modelling

Q1: Some cyanobbacteria can fix nitrogen from atmospere, which is also noted in EFDC+ Technical Report (Fig.a). How can we consider this factor? Should I set “nitrogen half saturation for cyanobacteria (K)” to 0 to represent this phenomenon?Q2: Some cyanobbacteria can buoyant up and down using air vesicles. In this way, they can help transport nutrients through the whole water column. Can EE simulate this? Or cannot?

Could somebody help me?

Hi In Art,Unfortunately, neither of the things you are looking at is possible with EFDC+ right now.In the equations for Cyanobacteria, you would require an additional term to account for the buoyancy effect. Currently, only settling is considered in the model.Thank you,Tom
