Sediment movement from density currents

I would like to know if EFDC could be used to study possible sediment movement from the bottom of a reservoir, produced by density currents created by opening of submerged gates.

Yes, EFDC can be used to study the sediment movement from the bottom of a reservoir, produced by density currents created by opening of submerged gates. We would recommend you to use the hydraulic structures boundary condition in EFDC+ / EE. You can use sluice gate boundary condition to represent the submerged gates. In order to properly represent the momentum from withdrawal from sluice gate, I would recommend adding one extra cell on the downstream and put a mask between that cell and the cell just upstream. This way we can catch the momentum due to outgoing flow.
