I am having trouble figuring out how to specify whether a cyanobacteria group is Nitrogen-fixing or not. I see language about this in the theory (e.g. “Hence, equation (8.8) is not applicable to the growth of nitrogen fixers”) but not how to specify this in the model.

You cannot specify if a biota group is Nitrogen fixing in EFDC+. However, if you make Half Saturation Constant for N-uptake from water column (KHN_RPS) close to zero or zero, it will make sure that N limitation does not affect the growth of that biota group. You can find this parameter in the Growth tab of “Algae and Macrophytes Option” Form.
