How do I use the restart file

Dear EFDC Team
How do I use the restart file? I always use the option to restart write file. When power is lost before the end of running, could I start a running at the time point when the power lost ?
First I select “set files” and I click to open the file restart.out in the output folder, then in the project floder Appear restart.inp. file. Then I select “set file” and I click restart.inp file to be opened. When I click ‘run’ restrat files can not be used and I have to choose ‘overwrite’ to running again?
Please explain the procedure more clearly.
