Freezing point of ice simulation

Hi,

I simulated the ice cover in a river and noticed that the simulated ice-covered period is much shorter than the observed periods, particularly for the ice melt date. The simulated melt date is sometimes up to a month eariler than the observed. I used the full heat balance for the temperature module and the heat coupled ice model. I’ve adjusted the parameter values in the ice model (e.g.HWI, albedo and ice thermal conductivity), but this only affects ice thickness and does not seem to impact the ice formation or melt dates. Could you please advise if there are any settings I could modify to adjust the ice formation/melt dates or freezing temperature? Thank you.

Have you tried adjusting the Ice Melt Factor? If you want to sustain the ice, you can decrease the Ice Melt Factor to below 1.

Hi Linh,

I decreased the melt factor from 1 to 0.6, but the ice melt dates did not change. Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you.

What about lower values such as 0.1? Have you tried this?
