Can EFDC model simulate the tide current with very deep ocean?

HI, efdc has done lots of cases in the different coastal bays and estuaries around the world, however, can EFDC 2D model simulate accurately the tidal current with very deep ocean, for instance, the water depth is up to 4ooom. if not, then what is the deep limit in EFDC model? thanks for your suggestions.

EFDC uses an hydrostatic approximation in the vertical. This is not a problem for strong vertical density gradients, however, for strong vertical flow gradient it is not so accurate. There is not really any depth limit, it is just a question of how much detail is required in vertical structure of the model. The 2D Tank Test case model shows what will happen with an EFDC model with high density gradient (2.5 2D Tank Test Case).
