Can Rooted Aquatic Plant and Epiphyte Algae Sub-Model (RPEM) simulate emergent plants, as Phragmites australis?Which plants can RPEM simulate?
RPEM can simulate any plants, however, the biomass only interacts with the water column. This means that in the interaction EFDC+ does not distinguish between biomass in or out of the water. If it is an emergent plant then the portion outside the water column will not be fully accounted for.
Thank you very much. In other word, EFDC+ output the total biomass including both in and out of water column? If simulating emergent palnts, we need reduce the biomass outside the water column by other ways.
